I don’t know about you all, but it has been a crazy past few weeks at CG Ceremonies Headquarters. From wedding shows, to client meetings, to organizing the office, our team has been working round the clock to bring quality ceremonies to the central Florida area. So, with all this hustle and bustle, it is easy to loose yourself to the chaos, which brings us to today’s topic: Using Ceremony to Handle Stress.
I know, I know. You may be saying to yourself, are you crazy?! I already have enough to do in my day, I don’t need to add one more thing to the list.
However, you might already be conducting this type of ceremony and not even know it. For instance, we all have those tiny rituals in our lives that help us get through the day and find our zen. You might go for a jog every morning with you four legged friend, wind down after work with a warm cup of tea, or even skim through your Facebook feed before going to bed. These little routines aren’t just a way to pass the time, and can be extremely beneficial in helping us cope with the pressure of the day.
So, since I’m already doing it, why are we talking about it?
It is important to recognize these healthy rituals, for two reasons. Number one, by drawing attention to these daily routines, we can make sure to savor them even more. Instead of seeing these self-care moments as extras or a waste of time, we can begin to view them as healthy rewards that are worth looking forward to. Second and most importantly, this can allow you to separate the healthy rituals from the unhealthy ones. Having a warm glass of apple cider at the end of the day and soaking in the tub, is a perfectly wonderful way to get rid of stress. Eating a whole tub of ben n jerry’s and crying while binge watching the British baking championship is a whole other story. Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and a place for both; however, when our unhealthy coping mechanisms become our go to, it can have a serious impact on our mental and physical health.
Now that I’ve blabbered on and on about what these rituals are and why they’re important, it’s time for some fun. Let’s talk about a some great activities that you can roll into your weekly routine to put that extra pep in your step.
